Blog Diet

Why have there been so many intermittent blog-silence in October? In the last post, we have shared one of the reasons. Here's the other.

Too much food...

Breakfasts,

lunches,

and dinners!

Kevin's parents are in Perth and have been pampering us with a lot of home-cooked goodness.

Shopping for ingredients...

So, with so much food, we had to be on a diet, blog diet. Alright, that's utter nonsense. We have been busy spending time with each other and traveling a bit too. So, you will expect to see more photographs of the spectacular outdoor-sy Western Australia soon (you're probably sick of them by now).

Until then!

LOADS of fun?

For those who think its all just fun and games here...

... it's not!!!!! :))

There's lots of hard work, late nights, stress and discouragement involved too! But Kevin is really thankful for his supervisors who have been so helpful and are putting a lot of time and effort into guiding him. And of course, for all the moral support and encouragement that Agnes is providing too! Kevin is now in the process of writing his research proposal (as you can see from the pictures!), which explains why this blog has been slightly quiet in the past week. (Agnes: Of course, if he didn't insist on wanting to choose the camp photographs, there would have been less delay... Oh by the way, I chose them all in the end. ;p)

Fairbridge Fun Finale

Here are more photographs of the surroundings of the camp-site. Simply breath-taking, aren't they?

Making a point, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence."!

The 2 cottages we lived in...

Home to a family of kookaburras... and if you click on the next picture, you may be able to see at its beak the frog it has just hunted for its young ones.

Inside the chapel.

They were moving closer to closer to Kevin as he was taking this photograph...

Fairbridge Fun Part 3

Before the treasure hunt... to search for hidden koala bears!

Releasing the origami boats that Cindy got us to make during morning devotion, to remind us about the journey of life. Guess which classic spiritual hymn we sang for morning devotion? It was 'Row, row, row your boat.. gently down the stream...'

Watching the boats flowing down the stream...

Handball with soccer ball at the sand pit... we were joined by another group of campers which made it so much more fun-filled!

After the kids had all gone to bed.. the adults stayed up to make paper rockets and planes. We ended up flying planes in the dark outside at midnight!

Sunday... finally flying the kites! though there was more running than any flying. They were meant to be 'prayer kites, where prayers written on pieces of paper were attached to the strings so that they were carried up to the kite by the wind.

Sunday service in the chapel...

Some other fun in between...

Kevin kicking the ball with Liam.

The twins building a 'fire' for Agnes because she was feeling cold.

Finally, let us introduce...

the always-energetic organizers... Kees and Wendy,

and the wonderful chefs... Keith and Bethlyn!

Fairbridge Fun Part 2

Saturday morning began with breakfast and coffee...

Learning about the history of Fairbridge Farm - a former orphanage where many kids from England were brought here because they had run out of space! We were living in the actual dormitories where these kids used to live.

A quiz on Fairbridge Farm - we had to walk around the whole village looking for clues!

Can you see the possum?

Clay modelling... Agnes made a bird on a tree, with a rubbish bin next to it. Can you spot the bird?

...and there was kite-making too!
