Knits for her

Having knitted quite a number of hats et al. for others, Agnes really wanted to knit a few items for our own. So, besides the socks and mitts, she actually knitted a sweater and a hat many many many months before. However, only in the last few days did she finally bind off the sweater and sew the petals on the hat...

There is no question as to why this is called a pinwheel sweater. This is the first sweater that Agnes has ever knitted and apparently this can be used for newborns up to 3 years old!

Agnes loved this upside-down-daisy hat ever since she first saw the pattern in a book. To her delight, her sister bought her the book and she could knit this hat...

Will she have the time to knit anything else after the arrival? Well, we'll just have to wait and see... ;)

One-more-weekend #2

We have been hypnotising the baby so that she will not come before this weekend is over. The reason is because Helen had planned a baby shower for us on Saturday and the church wanted to give us a gift on Sunday. Well, we have succeeded! ;)

Tasting baby food and figuring out the flavours! It was tough!

How many pegs can you remove from the ribbon with one hand while carrying a baby in the other?

How big is Agnes' tummy? Put a peg with your name and make a guess...

We also received a bucketful of gifts... and a chock-ful of love! There was so much fun and laughter that Agnes had a sore back later in the day and thought that the baby was coming! :O Alas, it was a false alarm... phew...

Earlier today, we went to the must-go place for all our visitors... the casino!

... for lunch at Carvers' buffet

as a celebration of Agnes' mum's birthday in case baby decides to come and we are not able to celebrate this coming Wednesday... :)

After lunch, we were busy appreciating the stroller that our church family had bought us... :D and afterwards, Kevin went right on to prepare for his presentation tomorrow.

The catching game

Due to the fact that Kevin is "perpetually 30 weeks pregnant", we wanted to know how long it would take for Agnes to catch up. She has finally caught up! ;D

One-more-weekend #1

Another weekend has just passed with no sign of the baby coming. So, we tried making full use of it. ;)

On Saturday, we went for a drive along the Sunset Coast then all the way to Hillarys Boat Harbour, spending some time shopping at the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk.

On Sunday, after church and a scrumptous lunch at Secret Garden Cafe, we drove to Araluen Botanic Park, finally visiting a place that we have not been before. :)

During one of the weekdays when Kevin was in uni, we took the bus to the city for some sight-seeing, shopping and enjoying a cup of tea. Agnes' mum did more cooking while her dad did more gardening, tried out his new harmonica and also washed our car. Talk about getting themselves busy!

Tumeric glutinous rice with curry chicken!

Pumpkin cake!

Christmas Shoe Box

We have just been reminded by a sign in a shop that it's 10 weeks to Christmas! Of course in Australia (in the absence of the need to market celebrations such as Hari Raya and Deepavali), Christmas trees, decorations etc are on sale from September onwards (hmm... or is it earlier?).

It's also the time of the year that Operation Christmas Child worldwide starts collecting shoe boxes to be distributed to more than 135 different countries with the objective to meet critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster. Boxes from Australia and New Zealand are sent to South East Asia and the South Pacific.

We had the opportunity to fill up one box and Agnes already feels like packing for next year's box(es)! Our prayer for the child who will be receiving this box that we have packed:

May the Lord grant her peace, joy, love and hope this Christmas, and may she be able to realize her full potential as a human being, find meaning in her life, and fulfill her calling whatever it may be.

35 long years

Whilst some got engaged/ married/ older on the 10th of October this year, we had the privilege to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Agnes' parents. So, 10.10.10 was more special than it already is.

Agnes' mum got to rest from the kitchen for the day and we went out for dinner at a restaurant.

Dessert was a yummy home-made durian cake... admittedly, you may say it was more to satisfy our own cravings rather than about getting something they liked... ;D

From their lovely children and grandchildren (one name to be added on soon!), they received a ermmm...

this! ;p

Well, we received no objections! ;)
