Coffee with Logs, Dianne and Rajan...
The month ended with 2 busy days in church (for Agnes) and a talk in UWA.
In church:
This Sunday, there will be a commissioning service for our new minister, Cindy Monteith. Kylie, Meredith and their little ones with a few of us helpers got together for the past 2 days for felting of a (surprise) stole and a big banner for the service. The first thing that Agnes thought of was throwing knitted items into the washing machine with hot water. But no, it's all manual work from scratch...
We started by pulling wool and placing the designs on another piece of wool. Then, we put a piece of bubble wrap on top, put some soap water and started rubbing, rubbing and rubbing until the wool are bonded together. Finally, we rinsed and whacked it to produce the final outcome.
The children designed flowers, birds, a snake (below), butterflies, snails etc for the big banner
With the banner, it was a lot more work so we got everyone rubbing and rubbing. It was such a tiring job that the kids plotted a scheme where they all pretended to die of hard work when Meredith came back from getting the sanding machine!
The sanding machine - an easier way out...
It was really hard work but there was a lot of fun and satisfaction looking at everything coming together!
In UWA:
After the first day of helping out in church, Agnes hopped onto the bus to join Kevin for a public lecture in UWA. Professor Geraint F. Lewis spoke on the controversial topic of 'The Anthropic Cosmological Principle: A Universe made for me?' We took more photographs of the beautiful campus. We were also very blessed to be offered a ride home by Perry (a church member) instead of having to take the 2 bus rides home.

In the coming months, we will have more visitors to look forward to. Kevin's parents will be here in 2 weeks' time whilst Chris and Jane'nette will be coming in December!
