From Ipoh to Penang...

We spent two nights in Ipoh, where we had the opportunity to visit Agnes' home church, spend time with family and eat some good Ipoh food like 'chao liew', dim sum, and on our final morning, our favourite dry curry mee with fried pork!

Then it was off to Kevin's hometown of Penang...

The first thing we did was to introduce Jacynth to her great grandfather, who is currently very ill. But he was really happy to see her.

Jacynth took some time to settle into her new surroundings...

Penang is, of course, famous for its great food. And we made sure we made the most of every meal!

Hawker centre at New Lane, where we had 'chee cheong chok' (pig intenstine porridge), 'sui kau' (dumplings), 'chee cheong fun' (pork intestine noodles, only because it looks like it, not that it's made of pork intestines!), and more curry mee!

Of course, the main draw of the place is its famous Penang 'char koay teow' (fried flat noodles), and Agnes had lots of helpings!

From Selangor to Ipoh...

Day 2 began with what we'd been looking forward to for months - pork noodles for breakfast in Kota Kemuning! Slurp! Ok... it probably looks a bit disgusting in the photos, but it really is good! We'll definitely have it a couple more times before going back to Perth.

But today also marked the beginning of our hectic travels around Malaysia. We first dropped by Kevin's auntie and uncle's place in PJ so that they could meet Jacynth for the first time.

Then it was off to Agnes' hometown, Ipoh to spend two nights.

In the evening, we had dinner with relatives at Pusing Public Seafood Restaurant, the place where we had our wedding dinner in Ipoh. We had wanted to eat the 'Lor Mai Fan' or glutinous rice for awhile now. We also had our first 'lou sang' for Chinese New Year...

Meanwhile, Jacynth looks on...

Jacynth's Maiden Flight and Our First Day Home...

We were quite anxious about how Jacynth would handle her first experience on a plane, but we're thankful everything turned out well. She stayed calm during takeoff, slept right through the whole flight on the bassinet, and only cried (loudly!) for a couple of minutes as the plane was making its descent. We're both so proud of her! Let's see how she reacts when we fly back to Perth...

So here we are... back home at last!

As Agnes' brother, Frederick, picked us up at the airport, we immediately headed off to the immigration office to settle Jacynth's passport.

Then it was time for our first meal back in Malaysia! We went to the famous 'Char Siew fan' (roasted pork rice) shop in Shah Alam, and ordered lots of Char Siew! We were taken aback when we saw the bill though - RM70 for a meal for 3! Totally shocking!

What do you do after a hearty meal? Sleep, of course! Kevin and Jacynth had a little nap while Agnes went for a dental appointment.

We had a nice dinner in Kota Kemuning with Kevin's brother and his fiancee Janet... Yong Tau Foo, Choi Tam, stewed pork and yam, squid fried in salted egg batter, and fish steamed in bean paste (cheong cheng). Yummy... this is the life!

We ended the day with Eric, Lydia, Yuet Pei and Sam dropping by our place. What a busy first day back home it has been!
