Jacynth and Charis

Last week, Karen, Brendan and Charis visited Agnes and Jacynth and they spent some time at the park near our house.

While Agnes lamented to Karen about Jacynth's sleep problems and tried to get a few tips from the mother of two, the two babies were busy chomping on their teethers.

Meanwhile, 3 year old Brendan was enjoying himself at the playground...

Charis is about a month younger than Jacynth and the mothers are really excited for them to be good friends! :)

However, Jacynth tried to make it clear to us that she was starting to be wary of unfamiliar faces...

Well, we pray she will grow to be friendly and be willing to share her toys (hmmm, perhaps those that she hasn't mouthed...)!

Jacynth and the Easter Bunny

This year's Palm Sunday Service was mainly prepared by and led by the youth, and as in recent Sundays, we have tried to get Jacynth to sleep for as late as possible so that we didn't have to try to get her to sleep in church (which usually fails anyway).

She did have a little catnap though...

Agnes and her former colleagues from the child care centre...

Jacynth and the Easter Bunny...

We headed home and put Jacynth down on the cot to sleep... she of course, had other ideas...

Doggy Birthday Party at the Foreshore...

We were invited by Fiona for a little birthday party for Jack at the foreshore. We were happy to go along and attend our first doggy birthday party! Agnes was a little anxious about all the dogs around, since she's afraid of dogs, but it was Jack's party after all. Jacynth probably sensed the emotions, which made her cry. Either that, or Jacynth's starting to be wary of strangers. Our theory was that maybe Jacynth couldn't recognize Judy with her new hairstyle!

Anyway, we decided to leave the pack of dogs to join Fiona at the barbecue....

Jacynth needed her nappy changed, and Agnes went right down to it...

It was a nice day, with a cool breeze blowing inland and beautiful clouds rolling by...

Jacynth, Fiona and the the doggy of the hour - Jack, who is ten years old!

Can I have some burgers too? please?

All in all, it was another good day out at the park...

Best Hokkien Fried Noodles in Perth, and Jacynth on the Trolley

We decided to try out this cafe in Karawara called 'Mama Kopitiam' after a recommendation by one of Kevin's colleagues.  Jacynth has a little bit of fun with her tray in the stroller as daddy places the orders...

The $4.80 Nasi Lemak with chicken is definitely a great find! it's probably the next cheapest meal you can get in Perth after the packed rice in Chilli's which costs $4.50. And it actually tastes good too!

Agnes ordered Hokkien fried noodles, and it turned out to be the best we've ever tried in Perth! They used the wrong noodles - the yellow noodles rather than the fat ones you get back home, but the yellow noodles are almost as fat as the fat noodles back home anyway. It's also not as good as what you get in Malaysia, but beggars are not choosers! They even had pork lard in it! We'll definitely be going back to this cafe in the near future...

After lunch, we went shopping for groceries, and Jacynth had her first ride on the supermarket trolley. She loved it!

And she's been having fun in the trolley ever since...

Mushy Stuff...

We've started Jacynth on solids! Starting with porridge, rice cereal, pureed potatoes, broccoli and pumpkin...

However, she appears to be more interested in the spoon than in the food...

...and definitely prefers the few grains of rice that we feed her from our plate...

The pureed broccoli that we keep in the freezer...

All I Want for Easter is My Two Front... ?

We knew it was coming when everything seemed to go into her mouth...

So we thought we should help her out by letting her have the necessary equipment...

Yes... Jacynth has two little teeth protruding out of her gums!
No more toothless grins!

Pumpkin Muchkin

Autumn is here... and with it, pumpkin season! We bought a pumpkin so we could start Jacynth on some solid food, along with some broccoli, potatoes and rice cereal.

Just a day after, we found a whole box of pumpkins lying at the front entrance to our church, and they were for sale! It was to raise funds for the chaplaincy in some school. We of course couldn't resist getting Jacynth a little 30 cent pumpkin to play with!

And we bought another one for ourselves (which Jacynth also had a chance to play with)

 It's mine!

Anyway, with so many pumpkins, the only way we could make full use of them was to make pumpkin cakes! ;)
