Over here, new mothers are encouraged to attend new mothers' group organised by the local child health centres. The child health nurse would be with the group for 5 weeks going through important subjects about raising baby. From then onwards, the group can decide to continue meeting and eventually form a playgroup.
Agnes only attended a new mothers' group when we came back from Malaysia, so Jacynth is a wee bit older than all the other babies in her group. While all other babies are still sleepy heads as new babies should be, Jacynth is quite fully awake most of the time. Also, the meeting time coincides with her nap time, so on arrival at the centre, Agnes' first task is to get her to sleep which is quite a mammoth task. Thank God she always managed to do it.
Now that the sessions at the child health centre are over, the group is trying out a few venues to choose a permanent place. This week, they were at the South Perth Library for rhyme time. It doesn't make sense to be napping at rhyme time so the plan was to try to get her to wake later in the morning and make a dash home for a nap once the session is over. Well, it worked out by itself since she had a long wake the night before (more on this later) so ended up waking later.
It was fun attending rhyme time although Jacynth was more busy rolling and turning on the floor and meeting new friends! :)
