Watch Jacynth Grow #10

Weight: 10 kgs 520 gsm
Length: 79 cm
(measured by child health nurse)

Jacynth is one and a half years old! She loves recognising and saying aloud the alphabets, shapes, numbers, colours and many other words but our pride is a 3-syllable Malay word that she uses all the time now...

Alamak - the alternate to her other favourites, 'Oh dear', 'Oh no' or 'Opppsss'.

On her forehead is a mozzie bite but on the left cheek is another mark of growing up - scraped on the floor from falling flat on her face while walking on her own. ;)

Bersih 3.0 in Perth

And here's the best family photo we have to date, only a second attempt, taken just before Kevin left for the event... :)

Remembering the ANZACs

Every year on 25 April, Australians get together to observe ANZAC Day. This year is the third time we have been around when the event takes place but we have never been to any of them. Since this will probably be our last chance to do so, Agnes decided that she had to be a  part of it at least once.

The day was (as always) commemorated with the Dawn Service, a parade and a more formal ANZAC Day Ceremony. Kevin decided to give it a miss and spent his public holiday writing his thesis in the office while Agnes took the bus to the city with Jacynth where all the action was. They arrived during the second half of the parade and had fun watching from the curb of the road, as Jacynth ate her ANZAC Day biscuit and danced to the marching bands...

Waving the Australian flag around...

They were right behind the Guards of Honour (who were between them and the main stage) during the Ceremony, where Agnes made an extra effort not to let Jacynth escape past the cordon of Australian flags...

And so, ANZAC Day - checked. :)

Yeh Yeh and Ah Ma's Visit

About 2 weeks ago, Kevin's parents visited and Jacynth got some pretty, new clothes...

...and some fun rides! :)

We had steamboat (with a slight difference) for the first time here in Perth and we, as expected, over-ate!

We also went out for some meals...

...which was when Jacynth found out that some pasta are not only yummy, but fun too!

At the end of the trip, Jacynth was thrilled to receive many coins from Ah Ma (grandma) and Ye Ye (grandpa) for her 'piggy bank'.

And as usual, she wanted to 'help' to pack...

Over the Easter Weekend

Easter is the longest weekend we have here... since for Kevin it stretches from Good Friday to the Tuesday after Easter Monday. For Agnes and Jacynth, both Friday and Monday were off days from Day Care. As for Kevin, they were good opportunities for him to write his thesis at uni without distractions...

After the Good Friday service in the morning, Agnes dropped Kevin off at the uni and took Jacynth to the playground where she went on the slide for umpteen rounds. Agnes was grateful that she did it on her own!

Still loving the swing and trying to sway her body to move it...

Kevin did have a break from uni on Saturday and Sunday where we spent some time at King's Park... (on the right is Jacynth's version of 'smiling for the camera').

... and in the city. Here's Jacynth dancing to the music of the Easter celebrations (practice session) at Forrest Place.

On Tuesday, Agnes went grocery shopping with Jacynth and although it looks like she finished the whole plate of wat tan hoh + bee hun (flat and rice noodles in egg sauce), she certainly did not. ;)
