Short Hike at Bosque Del Apache

As part of the summer school, a couple of hikes were organized for Saturday. You get to choose if you want to go on the 'Iron Man Hike' (which involves scaling about 4000 ft at South Baldy Peak, with the option of boosts provided by shuttles that ferry people up partially), or a short hike through the 'Canyon Trail' at the Bosque Del Apache Nature Reserve. Since Kevin had doubts about his own fitness, he chose the short hike. ;)

The trail was fairly easy, so he took his time to enjoy the landscape and to take some pictures. He soon got separated from the main group, which was ok, since the initial plan was that everybody would be on their own. There was no danger of getting lost - the trail was well marked.

It was only when Kevin arrived back at the start of the trail, slightly more than an hour later, that he saw the following warning:

Oh well, Kevin made it back safely and it was a nice cool day for hiking. Also, it was great to be able to wind down with a couple of pints of beer at a local pub while watching the England vs US World Cup game - with a bunch of English and American fans!
