A Baby's Guide to Great Family Vacations (Part 2) - by Koay Jacynth

ENJOYING THE VACATION

Tip 11: Start the day early. Do all you can to prevent uncomfortable and embarrassing situations involving soiled nappies while travelling.

Tip 12: Don't forget your sunscreen! It not only protects you from harmful UV rays, but prevents dry skin too.

Tip 13: Again, enjoy the scenery as you travel.

Look out for wildflowers...

churches...

farms...

heritage buildings...

pink lakes...

Tip 13: Travel in comfort. If the sun gets in your eye and it becomes too warm, get someone to put up some shades for you

Tip 14: If you feel like you've been strapped in your seat for far too long, and need to get out, try throwing some tantrums.

If tantrums don't work after more than half an hour, just sit back, relax and do what you can to keep yourself occupied. Remember, there will always be payback time... maybe by waking many times in the middle of the night... (psst: I plan to do that anyway)

Tip 15: Upon arrival at the various places of interest, insist on walking as much as you can, especially when the day has just begun and you've got lots of energy.

Tip 15: When you're tired. get someone to carry you...

The stroller works fine too... its entirely up to your own mood and style

Tip 16: Oh, and did I mention that you should never forget your hat?

Tip 17: Safety is of utmost importance. Do not wander too near the edges of the cliffs, especially if your walking skills have not been perfected.

Tip 18: Stop for a lunch break at a cafe with fancy chairs. Check the menu first. Make sure the food is affordable so that your parents have enough money to spare for your essentials such as nappies, toys, books etc.

Tip 19: Insist on trying some of your parents' food. They always taste better than all the unsalted stuff they give you.

Tip 20: Get someone to do the souvenir shopping on your behalf. It's not worth your effort. They won't let you run around the shop and play with the little trinkets anyway.

Meanwhile, get some rest while you can, to prepare for the next stop... or for the mischief at night after bedtime...
